The obligatory gear shot. I actually think things are not looking too bad. Gear is so light and small nowadays. A three-person tent 1.8kg and a 60m single rope 3kg. Having said this, taking climbing gear on a bike trip is always a big commitment as it will clog up a whole pannier and quite some weight in any way. But we are planning to spend our “rest weeks” in great climbing places in Taiwan, Laos, Oman and once we are in Europe, there is great climbing anyhow anyway. The main change to the “olden days” is the number of electronic devices we seem to need. A Walkman has given way for several tablets, phones and Kindles.
So everything is looking fine, we have our vaccinations, Max has his brand new German passport and we even have somebody living in our house. One week to go and we are out of here.

Hi Steffen und crew!
Good luck und gute Fahrt!
Und wenn es euch irgendwann an den Elbstrand schwemmt... zum Bier gibt es dann auch noch ein Fischbrötchen!
Alles Liebe aus Hamburg!

Hi Ellie, just using this Blog to communicate is my big adventure. That someone is not living at your house yet. They're waiting for the owners to rack off on their big adventure. It's 5.00 pm and someone mentioned beer!

That´s the way to do it. Enjoy your time and you are always welcome in Scotland: good climbing but a lot of up and down cycling with potential of rain and wind!

Hi Sabine, we like up and down and rain and wind. We still think often of our last Scottland trip and how cool it was. In any way, looking forward seeing you next Summer in Europe.
